In Ireland, anyone learning to drive has to complete something called the Essential Driver Training, or EDT. It’s a series of 12 driving lessons, each focused on a different part of driving, aimed at making sure all new drivers are safe, confident, and know what they’re doing before they hit the roads on their own. The Road Safety Authority (RSA) set up the EDT to give new drivers a solid foundation, and it’s all about building your skills, so you’re ready for the driving test – and for driving on real roads afterward!
